2016 N.C. 1A Football Power Ratings

Welcome to my overall ratings page.  I will be updating these records by every 
Thursday night during the season.  To determine the predicted point spread for 
a game, simply take the difference between the two teams' ratings, and add 2
points for the home team.

These ratings are based on a mathematical formula involving several factors,
including win-loss record, schedule strength, and margin of victory in games. 
The most recent games are counted with slightly more emphasis than those
played earlier in the season.  Forfeits ARE reflected in the records, but ARE
NOT included in the power ratings, or strength of schedule rankings.


SS = strength of schedule rankings among the 79 1A teams included in these
ratings (1 is strongest and 79 is weakest)

Notes: 
1) 1A East Carteret gained a forfeit win over Ind Harrells Christian in week
1 - the game was never played.

2) 3A Swansboro defeated 1A Lejeune 17-0 in week 1 but that game was only 1 
quarter in length.  For purposes of the power ratings, I am counting this game
as a forfeit.

3) 1A Mountain Island Charter has forfeited 2 victories due to the use of an
ineligible player, to the following teams: 1A Thomas Jefferson in week 3 and 
1A Pine Lake Prep in week 5.

4) 1A Creswell and 1A Cape Hatteras played a game in week 5 that was declared
a double forfeit.

5) 1A Creswell forfeited to 1A Gates County in week 6.

6) 1A North Stokes folded their varsity team following week 6 and decided to
forfeit the following games - 1A Mount Airy in week 7, 1A Walkertown in week 9,
1A Winston-Salem Prep in week 10, 1A East Surry in week 11, 1A Atkins in week 12.

7) Ind North East Carolina Prep forfeited the following games: 1A Pamlico in
week 7, 1A Gates County in week 8, Ind North Wake Saints in week 9, and Ind 
Kestrel Heights in week 10 - the games were never played.

8) 1A South Davidson forfeited to 1A North Moore in week 7, to 1A East
Montgomery in week 9, and to 1A West Montgomery in week 11, and to 1A Chatham
Central in week 12 - the games were never played.

9) 1A Cape Hatteras forfeited to non-ranked Norfolk Christian in week 11 - the
game was never played.
